What kind of rewards can be expected from a rewards card?
The most common reward offered is cash back. It envolves a percentage of purchases, usually 1% of the total. Another common reward from your reward card is Airline miles. You earn airline miles with every purchase toward free flights. You usually earn 1 airline mile for every dollar you have in purchases. The final reward is just earning points that can be used on a variety of products and services.

What interest rates are available with a rewards card?
Reward cards that allow you to carry a balance each month will have a higher interest rate than credit cards without reward incentives.

Are reward cards the right choice for you?
If you have the ability to pay the balance of your rewards card each month, it could be a great way to receive benefits for purchases you were probably going to make anyway. If you can't pay your balance off each month in full, interest charges might offset any rewards you might otherwise be eligible for with your rewards card.

What to consider when shopping for a rewards card

• Is there an annual fee on the rewards card? If so, look for a comparable rewards card that does not charge an annual fee. If you cannot find one, make sure you will use the rewards card enough to earn enough rewards to offset the fee.
• If airline miles are your preferred reward, find a rewards card that offers miles for the airline of your choice. The best option is to find a rewards card that offers a choice of airlines you can use with your miles.
