Credit union rule change to benefit borrowers

The Minister for Finance will bring proposals to Cabinet shortly to change lending rules for credit unions. The rules currently specify that only 20% of a credit union's loan book can be made up of loans exceeding five years or more.

Kern Schools Federal Credit Union Closing 4 Branches

Bakersfield-based Kern Schools Federal Credit Union has announced it will close and consolidate four branches and reduce staff due to the continued economic slow down and ongoing loan delinquencies. Supermarket branches located in Wasco and Bakersfield as well as full service branches in Ridgecrest and East Hills Bakersfield will close on March 9.
